Detained Burmese reporters in exile released in New Delhi


Khonumthung, April 19 – Four Burmese reporters in exile detained near India gate during the Beijing Olympic torch relay in New Delhi, India were released on bail yesterday.

The special magistrate’s court on Parliament Street in New Delhi freed four Burmese reporters on bail yesterday after the India police detained them for a day at Tuglak Road police station on April 17.

The released reporters have to appear in court at Parliament Street on May 1.

The Indian police picked up the four Burmese reporters near India gate while they were trying to take photographs and video clips of the activities of security forces deployed.

The police detained the four Burmese reporters along with 57 Tibetan protesters at Tuglak Road police station near the Parliament and charged them under section (51) of the Cr. PC.

The detained Burmese reporters are Khin Maung Latt
from DVB (Democratic Voice of Burma), Kyaw Thura from
BBC Burmese service section, Myo Myint Aung from
Khonumthung News and Nay Myo Lynn from RFA (Radio Free
Asia).
