Tennis Men’s World no. 1 Roger Federer of Switzerland overcame the no.2 Rafael Nadal of Spain to captured his 5th Wimbledon Championship in a row.
But Federer was made to work hard by Nadal who has improved his grass-court playing skills and at one point of time in the 5th set Federer’s serve was nearly broke twice by Nadal before the situation overturned and the world no. 1 finally broke the game to win 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-2.
It was a repeat of last year final but Nadal’s performance was much better this year.
With this win Roger Federer is the first man to win five straight titles at the All England Club since Bjorn Borg did it from 1976-80 who was also watching this epic match in the Centre court. However, Federer may well go pass this milestone when he defends his title next year. Remember, he is only 25 years of age.
