Dimapur-Kohima Rail Line Construction Begins in Nagaland

Kohima, Nov 25 (UNI) : The process of laying of 125-km long railway line between Dimapur and Kohima began today following the notification of Dimapur Deputy Commissioner to the Gaon Burahs and Village Chairmen of the villages through which the tracks will be laid.
A public notice issued by Dimapur DC Moang Aier asked the Gaon Burahs, Village Chairmaes and general public residing in Dimapur and Kohima districts, whose lands are likely to be surveyed for the laying of the broad gauge railway line, to submit claims and objections, if any, in written within 30 days from today.
He also informed that the notice is being issued under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.
The proposed railway line through the hilly terrain areas, to be constructed by the Northeast Frontier Railway, survey of which has already been completed, is likely to cross the villages of Dimapur, Nagarjan, Thahekhu, Diphupar, Sovima, Chumukedima, Tenepe, Balijan, Sokhovi, Paglapahar, Khamkhya, Khaibong, Maova, Tsuma, Sochonuma, Sirithima Basam Sirhima, Medzipphema, Piphema, Chephema, Khobvuma, Peducha, Zubza, Kekruma and Thizama of both Dimapur and Kohima districts.
The last stop of the railway line, which will start from Dimapur railway station, will be Zubza, about ten km from Kohima.
