Some Rediff.com users have come down heavily on Mr. Lalit Modi for going ahead with ILP matches instead of postponing it after India’s General election. Some of the critics comments are below:
The success of the first IPL, the consequent fame Lalit Modi has achieved and obviously the enormous wealth he has earned, besides the praise heaped by many by raising him to the sky and calling him the driving force for the IPL’s success has certainly made him swollen-headed and inflated his ego. If he was a patriotic Indian, he would have cooperated with the Central Government by waiting till the elections were over and thereafter conducting the matches. This man has to realise that general elections are held once in five years and not held at the organisers’ whims and fancies, as is the case with cricket. One cannot understand Lalit Modi’s haste in holding these matches in April itself, so much so that he is bent upon holding it in South Africa. – By Kavitha.
IPL matches are highly rated matches, it will continue to raise a lot of questions as it is shifted out of India.
