Khonumthung News, July 7 - Villagers in Zokhuamawi village, near Tio River on the Indo-Myanmar border have been ordered to provide sandstones for the construction of a three kilometer long asphalt road link between Zokhuamawi village and Rih sub-town in Chin state. The directive comes from the Myanmar military authorities.

Churachandpur (India), July 6 (Khonumthung News): In a rare and brutal incident, a Pastor by name Pau Za Khen (62) from Myanmar was beheaded by an unidentified group of four kidnappers in Churahchampur town in Manipur state, northeast India on July 4.

Kuala Lumpur, July 5 (Khonumthung) : In an ardent appeal to the Malaysian government, the Chin Human Right Organization has urged it to call a halt to the crackdown on Myanmar refugees. Instead it has asked Malaysia to cooperate with the office of The United Nation High Commissioner for refugees (UNHCR) to protect the inherent rights of refugees and asylum seekers.

Kuala Lumpur, July 2 (Khonumthung) :Malaysia has stepped up its crackdown against illegal migrants from Burma. Malaysia's volunteer corps, the RELA rounded up 200 Burmese nationals hailing from Chin state in a fresh crackdown which began on June 28.

New Delhi, July 4 (Khonumthung): Burmese journalists and democracy activists in India joined hands in a peaceful demonstration in New Delhi today and demanded that the Myanmar military junta immediately release 78-year old U Win Tin, veteran Burmese journalist, and other political prisoners.
